[It wasn't the best place to spend the night but Joel knew that they would have to make do with what they have. The last town they passed was miles behind them, and they hadn't come across any place they could use as a makeshift shelter. If there was one thing he was glad about, it was that the weather had been kind enough to keep the skies clear that night.
He wasn't asleep, not yet, too busy keeping an ear out for any danger that could approach them at any moment. But all he heard for a good, long while was the sound of crackling wood from the slowly dying campfire nearby.
At least until Ellie decided to open her mouth.
He shifts his position, crossing an arm behind his head, his eyes still remaining closed.]
It's definitely goin' to be some night if you keep talking like that.
[He doesn't sound too irritated as he says it, but he did wish that she would use what little down time they had to rest up.]
