Klavier's sharp enough to catch the undertones in the man's words. Although it was meant to be reprimanding, his smile doesn't falter.]

I need to keep an eye on her, sir. Wouldn't want evidence running off to who knows where. You could say I'm keeping her on a tight leash. [With that he reaches down to pick up the dog's leash, just to prove his point. Although he does have something else to add.] Though it looks like I'm not doing a very good job at it.

[Edgeworth observes them both for a brief moment. It looked like the dog had taken a liking to Klavier. Which would make her more manageable, but would that affect her value as evidence?

Not that she was just mere evidence to Edgeworth. He would consider her more of a witness, in a roundabout way.]

What sort of case is it?

[The details was still fresh in his mind, having just read the detective's report moments before losing the dog in the office.]

The report says it's a burglary gone wrong. A shot was fired when the perpetrator was found escaping through a window, hitting them on the shoulder. The accused on the other hand claims they're innocent. Their story was that they'd seen the burglar and was chasing them down, only to be hit by a bullet as he was giving chase. Now he's suing the victims for wrongful accusation.

It would've been an open and shut case if a certain someone didn't eat the bullet casings on the scene.

[prosecutory]

[He is deep in thought, taking in the details until that last statement throws him off-guard and makes him draw back with an aghast expression.]

She...what?! [Edgeworth casts a disbelieving eye upon the dog.]

[The sudden outburst frightens the dog, getting a whine out of her. Klavier on the other hand seems very amused by the turn of events. THINGS WOULDN'T BE ACE ATTORNEY IF IT WERE EASY.]

[He tries to calm himself down after hearing the dog whine. Oops, sorry.]

[Edgeworth clears his throat.]

Have you brought her to a veterinarian?

Do not worry about her. It was the first thing I did after hearing of it.

The vet said it will be a while before she passes the casings, but she's doing fine despite it.
