➢ Mr. Zhang
[She was even more awake than she had been in Camp Half Blood's Hades' Cabin.]
[Peace. Quiet. She liked to think herself a social individual, but all those eyes on her had been almost too much to bear. More than once, she found herself subconsciously shrinking behind Frank. Which...did very little to draw those eyes away, as several of them were equally busy staring at him. (And who could blame them, really?) Their new praetor.]
[Only a sparse few campers remained awake. Patrolling the grounds. The threat might have been over, but routines were routines. They nodded their head in acknowledgement of Hazel and her newly established rank, but otherwise left her be. Good soldiers. She mentally thanked each and every one of them for that.]
[Sitting in front of the small campfire she had set for herself. Eyes staring blankly into the flames. Remembering.]
[Now that it was all over...did that all really happen?]
[It felt like a dream.]

After their entire adventure, anyone would think it wasn't that big a deal in comparison. But now that he'd had time to think about it on the trip back from Camp Half-Blood, he realized just how much had changed. It was a lot to take in.
Which is why he was glad that the celebration of their return and their victory lasted for one more day. It was a welcome distraction and boy, did he need one.
But now that the festivities had died down and Frank had been left to his own devices, he couldn't help but dwell on what was to come. While he'd accepted the responsibility of praetor, he still felt a little nervous about what the next day would bring especially because he had no doubt that everyone would return their routines come morning. They were Romans after all.
So while it was getting late, Frank needed to take a walk to clear his mind.
It isn't long before he notices Hazel sitting by a small fire, her shadow dancing together with the flames. With a few strides he makes his way over to her, tucking his legs beneath him as he takes a seat.]
I was wondering where you'd gone off to.
no subject
Miss me already?
[It was so easy to joke with him like this now. The months spent together...fighting side by side...facing death and Titans alike...it seemed silly to get embarrassed over something that felt so natural.]
no subject
Maybe a little.
[He reached for her hand, gently tangling his fingers in between hers.]
It's kind of hard to believe that we're finally back.
no subject
[Her hand slipped so easily into his, small and cool. Like the nighttime breeze.]
[Won't Reyna be looking for you? she almost asked. His fellow co-praetor. They were partners now. But the more she thought about it, the more she realized she didn't want to talk about Reyna. She didn't want to talk about Camp Jupiter or their fellow demigods or any of the last several months.]
[For the first time since Percy Jackson had washed up on their shores...they had a chance to be just Hazel and Frank. An opportunity she suddenly had the irresistible urge to take full advantage of.]
...I want to go for a ride.
no subject
It isn't long until his surprise melts away, and is replaced by a small smile tugging at the edge of his lips.]
I'd like that, too. [A pause.] Are we talking on Arion or something else? [Meaning will I need to change into an animal for this?]
no subject
[She'd done it in her old life. With Sammy. Little things, like sneaking away and...well...sneaking her first kiss. Their only kiss. Even when she'd come to Camp Jupiter, those traces of her past personality found ways of slipping through. Picking up a calvary sword simply because she was told it was a horrible idea. They wouldn't give her a horse. She wasn't high enough in ranking to have one. And the more they told her that, the more determined she was to wield that sword anyway.]
[Even her relationship with Frank...she'd put off acknowledging anything for so long simply because everyone had told her they would make a cute couple....]
[Okay, so maybe they were right. That time.]
[And now? She was rebelling again. In a way that nobody would get hurt. Sure, she would lose sleep that night, and suffer in the morning. But she hadn't had the opportunity to ride Arion outside the battlefield. To enjoy the wind blowing through her hair as she traveled as fast as his legs could carry her. And who better to ride alongside with than the Praetor of the Camp? He would get them both out of trouble if they were caught. Probably.]
[...nope, still worth the risk.]
Arion, of course. Unless you had another idea?
[The thought of riding Frank hadn't once occurred to her--which was probably fortunate for them both, because even if the meaning was actually uniquely innocent when it came to them, the notion of riding her boyfriend....]
[...yeah...]
no subject
I could probably take us somewhere if you wanted me to. [A beat passes as he gathered his thoughts. He averts his eyes to the ground for a moment, suddenly embarrassed all over again.] I mean, uh... at least that way it would just be two of us.
no subject
We could do that too. [Her head dipped low, to try and hide her own sudden blush. She had just assumed...but, then, Frank was offering and there was no way she could turn him down.] Did you have some place in mind?
no subject
I haven't really thought about it. [He ponders for a moment, his brows knitting together as he tries to narrow down their options.
Someplace in New Rome maybe? While it was probably best to stay close to camp, he couldn't help but feel they had a larger chance of getting caught sneaking about. And that was something he wanted to avoid right now... But if it was something Hazel wanted, then he'd be open to that too.
Eventually he shrugs but still looks embarrassed that he wasn't able to come up with anything.] Honestly? Anywhere but here sounds good right now.
no subject
[Somehow, not a consolation.]
In that case...let's go anywhere but here.
[She would literally follow him wherever he took her. No questions asked. Until she thought of one.]
sorry for the staggered replies! been pretty busy-- and still trying to get his voice down |D
Have you ever gone outside of the camp? You know, around San Francisco?
[Prior to their adventure with Percy and the others, Frank would've never entertained the thought of exploring the bay area. But they'd defeated Gaea only a few days ago, and they hadn't encountered too may monsters on the cross country trip back. The chances of them getting attacked were probably low... right?]
Maybe we could give that a shot.
take all the time you need! That's what practice is for, after all.
[Seventy years later, and Nico found her. Brought her back. And straight to training. Very little exposure to the outside world she would have felt so out of place in at the time. Not without an adjustment period.]
[She was pretty sure she'd adjusted by now.]
I hope you don't mean a literal shot.
Otherwise I'm almost tempted to say 'no'.
/chooses Felicity!
Truthfully, she'd been so busy settling in and figuring things out, she'd barely gotten to know Felicity yet. All she knew was she was apparently good with computers, which kind of reminded her of Fuuka. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to get along?]
Felicity? You home?
[Yukari pokes her head out of her room, speaking pretty good English, all things considered. She'd had some specialized tutors and diction coaches help refine her skill in the language before moving here. It still felt weird referring to someone she barely knew without any honorifics...
When she doesn't get an immediate answer, she slips out into the common areas of the apartment to get a look around. She doesn't even know what else she'll say yet, but if she doesn't put herself out there, they might never actually talk. What if they hate each other? She doesn't think that'd be the case, but she couldn't handle not knowing...]

Stomping past the foyer, she kicks off her shoes and goes into a rant.]
You wouldn't believe the traffic out there. It's insane. And this lady on the bus was just talking about her grandchildren the entire ride home. I'm sure she's a sweet lady and all but it's hard enough that my jobs are at opposite ends of the city, and that I have to listen to people's complaints the entire day. I just want some peace and quiet. Is that so hard to ask?
[And with that, she unceremoniously drops herself face first on the couch. The only thing that would get her up from her position would be a call from Oliver. Or someone else from Team Arrow. And even then she'd debate picking it up for a moment or two.]
I just want to lie here forever. Or at least until tomorrow morning. Maybe.
no subject
She... thinks she caught everything there, though? It makes sense to her, at least. Since Felicity's pretty much taking up the couch, Yukari steps into the room and takes the chair nearby. There's a bit of a knowing smile as she glances over at her roommate again... it might be a little different for her, but she knows what it's like working multiple jobs and running around all over the place. Even if she usually came back looking much better than that. Hazards of her work - she barely ever doesn't look pretty put-together. Except maybe first thing in the morning.]
Well, in that case... I promise I won't make you listen to any more complaints today.
[Her voice is gentle, with the slightest bit of teasing. It's the first step in an effort towards being genuinely friendly with the other woman.]
It's too bad, though. I kinda wanted to talk a little. But if I'd just be bothering you...
[She's giving Felicity an out on the conversation if she really needs a break, but she's also relaxing further into her chair. She's not going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe Felicity just needs someone to listen? She sure seems to have a lot on her mind.]
no subject
As much as she wanted to bury her face into the couch for the rest of the night, maybe talking to her new roommate was just what she needed. Regardless of where she was in the day, she was constantly in the company of men. Not that she didn't enjoy spending time with Oliver and the others, and a few select co-workers —very select few— at Tech Village, but she could only take being around so much testosterone for so long. Some girl time sounded perfect.
With some effort, she rights herself on the couch, getting into a sitting position.]
No, no. I'm okay with talking. I just needed to get all that off my chest though. I had a really, really rough day.
[It had only been a short while since Yukari moved in as her roommate, but with Felicity's busy schedule, they hadn't had any time to talk and get to know one another. Felicity had put up the ad to help cut down on costs at first, but she didn't see the harm in actually befriending the other girl.]
So, Yukari... [She doesn't have much trouble saying the name though her pronunciation might be a little off.] That's Japanese, right? Never thought I'd wind up with a Japanese roommate, really. I mean, it kind of feels like something out of the Japanese anime I used to watch as a kid.
no subject
[She gives the other woman a sympathetic smile as Felicity straightens up on the couch. Her job could get just as hectic, so it's nice that they have at least one opportunity to try and see how they might get along. Her own job might not be quite as much of a boys' club, but she doesn't get much one-on-one girl time anymore either, since moving away from all of her closest friends.
She's a little surprised at the topic of her name coming up, but not for long. It's a pretty unusual name for the States, after all. Still, Felicity does a better job pronouncing it than she does with hers... "Felicity" is full of sounds that bring out the slight accent in her English. It's kind of embarrassing, with how hard she works to sound as close to native as possible.]
Oh, really? You watched those here too?
[Common ground already! Feeling a little more relaxed, she chuckles and adds:]
Felicity sounds like something out of a Western movie, too. [A slight pause, and she blushes.] Er... American, I mean... I guess 'western' usually means something different with movies here.
[She may have been corrected on this at work once or twice already.]
Anyway, what kinds of anime did you like? Romance? Hero shows?
no subject
It's been a while since I've watched it though. I used to sneak in an episode or two back in between assignments back in college. [A beat.] Okay, more than one or two but can you blame me? Everyone just has to go through that phase of constant procrastination, right?
[She laughs upon hearing that her name sounded like something from a movie though. And the comment about western movies.]
Can't say I've ever heard that one about my name before.
[A very slight blush colors her cheeks, suddenly embarrassed about what she was going to say.]
Okay, this probably sounds really weird but I really got into mecha anime at some point. Oh, and sometimes I'd watch slice of life anime, too.
no subject
It's really pretty, though!
[Said with another small laugh. She just doesn't want Felicity to think she thinks her name's weird, or anything!]
Huh... n-no, that's not weird at all! [She does look surprised that Felicity is interested in that sort of thing, but-!] You kind of remind me of someone, actually... my best friend back home. She's really good with technology and all that stuff.
[If only she were allowed to mention that one of her other closest friends is a robot... she has a feeling Felicity would be really interested in that!]
the one who claims those aren't kitty ears
seeing her again after all this time had been bad enough. but now they have to work together in this kind of situation? well, he'll do his best—it's a job and he knows how to push the unnecessary emotions to the side.
so right now the two are posing as a young affluent couple looking to increase their stock via investing. after talking with the various staff and going through the usual info dump rigamarole, and with the keycard Alvin had swiped from a negligent security guard (who was very likely distracted by Presa), the two are now sneaking through the authorized personnel areas. once they get the ALL IMPORTANT FILES they'll be done.]
Which floor was it on?
no subject
[Presa had peeled herself off of Alvin's arm as soon as they were sure no one was watching either of them. While she could've made a fuss about the current set-up they had found herself in, she kept things professional, pushing aside any personal feelings that might cloud her judgment while she was on the job.
It was odd working together with him after so long but a job was a job. She was certain that he knew that as well as she did. All they had to do was get the files and get out. Then she could move on with her life again, without him.
She pressed the elevator button to take them where they needed to be, crossing her arms as she waited for the car to make its descent.]
I didn't you would be able to get that keycard so easily.
[Her voice is calm, but she makes sure not to look him in the eye. Instead she crosses her arms over her chest, watching her own reflection on the elevator doors.]
no subject
Sneaking into highly guarded facilities are my specialty. Of course, it helps when said guards are careless and distracted easily.
no subject
Distracted? [Even if she has an idea where the conversation might be headed, she wanted to hear what he had to say.]
no subject
Remember the guard that was chatting you up? [he taps the card resting in his breast pocket, indicating who exactly his mark had been.] Saw a moment of opportunity of took it. [literally.]
you know who
He sets the Hades figure on the floor in front of him while on the deck of the Argo II. It was his turn to keep watch, and while he would normally be up above, he couldn't really do that right now.
So for now, all he could do was listen and stay alert. Nico does glance up every now and then to look around at the surroundings, before looking back down and moving the figure around again on the deck absently. The cards he'd stumbled on a couple of days ago suddenly felt heavy in his pocket, too, as if remembering that time he'd thrown the ones he'd found in the fire. He didn't have the heart to do that to these though, seeing as how they weren't his in the first place.
...He wasn't quite sure who they belonged to, but sometimes he still looked at them even though he knew every stat printed on them. It was a stupid thing, to reminisce like this when they had so much to consider ahead of them, but he found himself thinking about it anyway.]

Hi! What's your name? [ at least annie seems chipper enough. ]
