[A loud clatter was heard through the hallway as Beat wrestled with the vending machine. While the noise was impossible to ignore but not a single soul walked up to help the poor boy. Instead many chose to walk past him, snickering at his misfortune. And what a misfortune it was. It might've been fine were it was a simple problem but things have escalated beyond that.
The vending machine in question was quite old and there was a certain ritual that needed to be done to get your desired item. Everyone knew about the ritual, even Beat. But somehow he had forgotten about it when he placed his change into the machine, blinded by his eagerness for the last candy bar in the row. Everything had gone without a hitch. Mostly. The machine accepted his payment, he punched the necessary combination, the coil turned and the candy bar fell... Fell forward to lean up against the glass that is, its tip still holding on to the remaining unturned coil. That's when the pounding and shaking began, yet the candy bar refused to budge.
In a last ditch effort to retrieved his prize, Beat stuck his hand into the machine's flap and reached upward, trying to reach for it. After two failed attempts, he tried to reach in even further, his fingertips brushing up against the wrapper. He wiggled his fingers, hoping to finally find purchase— only to wind up latching his wristband on to one of the lower coils.
Which brings us to the present. Beat struggled with the machine for a while now, trying to free his hand from the machine to no avail. He grumbled beneath his breath, taking a momentary break from his scuffle.]
Seriously, yo? I jus' wanted to get a snack.

She's on her way there, chatting with some of the girls also in the club when they happen upon Beat. Several of the girls snicker as they pass by, but Ty Lee merely glances. The boy that showed her around seemed oblivious to the snickering - instead he was hell bent on getting his hand unstuck from the vending machine. The group rounds a corner before Ty Lee pipes up, letting out a sheepish laugh.]
I'm going to head back - I forgot something back in the classroom.
[With the promise that she'll be there as soon as she can, she doubles back to where Beat is still struggling in vain.]
You look like you need some help.

When someone speaks up behind him, he doesn't turn around to see who it is immediately, getting ready to make another attempt in freeing himself.]
Nah, yo. I think I got it this time. [And then he tugs. Hard. He rattles his arm around the opening in hope of jiggling his hand free but no dice.
Vending Machine - 1, Beat - 0.
He lets out an unhappy sigh, weakly punching the vending machine with his free hand.]
Stupid freakin' vendo!

[It wasn't like Ty Lee hadn't ever gotten herself into a couple of silly situations herself in the past, but getting a hand stuck in a vending machine was a scenario that she could definitely say she hadn't encountered.
Looking at the situation in front of her, it wasn't too hard to try and suss out what exactly had happened, and she figured not mentioning it or asking would somehow save him from more embarrassment.]
Are you sure? I could try wiggle your hand out...or get a teacher or something?

[It's only then that he turns to face Ty Lee, his expression shifting from frustration to surprise to sheer embarrassment. Whether it was fate or some other otherworldly force mocking him, he couldn't help but think it was just his luck to find himself in this situation in front of that cute new girl.
His free hand shoots up and he shakes it frantically, not too thrilled by her suggestion. He was embarrassed enough as is. Calling the attention of the teacher would only get him into worse trouble. With the way things are going, he couldn't help but think that they would probably accuse him of stealing or something of the sort.]
Nah, yo! Don't go tellin' some teacher 'bout it!

Looks like we'll have to get creative at trying to get you out then.
[She shifts her things aside and sits herself down beside Beat in order to get a better look at what exactly happened.]
I guess hitting the vendo a couple of times didn't help, huh?
no subject
Naw, yo. Been trying that an' it ain't gettin' me nowhere.
[He couldn't help but laugh at his own misfortune. It was a stupid situation after all, like the type of thing you see you'd see in cartoons.]
Heh, bet this thing looks pretty pathetic to you.

I'd say it's just someone that looks really, really determined to get that candy bar.
[Looking back at the situation at hand (hand - ha!) though, Ty Lee wasn't sure what they were going to do. After a bit of a pause she pipes up again.]
I think the first thing we have to do is unhook your bracelet. My hand should be small enough to slip inside there. What do you think?
no subject
Guess you could say that. Ain't no way I'mma let this stupid machine win!
[He looks at the coil his wristband was trapped. He had been trying to jiggle it off without much success but if he had a little help, it might just work.]
If you think you can reach it then go for it, yo.

[It's said in a light hearted manner, but Ty Lee really hopes that that won't be the case. Frankly, getting her own hand stuck in the vending machine would create a bigger problem than what she'd like to deal with at the end of a school day.
Gently, she wiggles her hand through the opening flap of the machine and snakes up to where Beat's is caught. So far so good. With a bit of expert precision, her hand manages to successfully unclip the wristband and it falls into the chute with a bit of a clatter.]
One down!

You got no idea how good that feels, yo. Was really startin' to cramp up.
no subject
Glad I could help! Sorry you didn't get your snack in the end though...That's gotta be a bummer.
no subject
Yeah, but I guess it could be worse, you know? Like I could still be stuck in there.
[He gestured towards the vendo, looking all too sheepish.]
Yo, I'm still thinkin' 'bout grabbin' something to eat. [A beat.] Do ya wanna join me? My treat.

Wha -
[She tilts her head, almost surprised at the offer. Was it true that she may have wanted to spend more time with him since she got back? Maybe. But she had quickly been wrapped up in so many other things that she'd rarely had any time to spend time let alone tease him - which, she remembered, had been one of her favourite things to do.]
Weeelll, I did have a meeting to go to. [She pauses and gives him a cheeky little smile.] But I guess since there's no one there half as cute as you offering to buy me a snack I guess I could skip it just this once.

[Beat's cheeks color several shades of red as soon as the compliment of sorts leave her mouth. There were many things he'd call himself but cute was definitely not one of them. He tries his best to regain his composure and power through with his invitation.]
I at leas' owe you for helpin' me out, y'know?
[Or so he says. He'd actually been trying to find an opportunity to hang out with her again. Beat would be lying to himself if he didn't at least admit to himself that he found her attractive. If there was anyone who was cute between the two of them, he'd say that it was her in an instant.]
'Sides, ain't like missin' one meeting's gonna hurt. If I was the one goin', I woulda quit goin' a long time ago.
